The Concept

The Grand Prix Pro-Am is a team event. Each team will consist of one “Pro” and two “Amateur” participants. Amateurs may sign up in pairs or individually (should they sign up indiviadually, their partner will be drawn out of a hat). Pros will be randomly assigned to amateur teams the day before the event begins. The generated teams will compete in three different events: waterskiing, go karting and skeet shooting. Each event will contribute to an overall team score which will ultimately crown the 2023 Travers Grand Prix Pro Am Team champions.

Scoring and event rules

Waterskiing:

Your score is Based off your average buoy count minus 6 buoys (for example if pro average is 4@10.25 on IWWF World Ranking then for the TGP his average will be 4@10.75) if th skier scores anything above 4@10.75 then it’s a positive number anything less than 4@10.75 is a negative number. Then we will take the two amateurs best single score out of the three rounds and average it with the best Pro’s score to get a team score ( for example amateur 1 average for the event is 2@12 and he’s best score is 4@12 then he has a plus 2 and for the second amateur his average is 4@11 and he’s best score is 4@11 then he’s scored 0 , pro has a plus 3 as his best round so we will average the three score like 2+0+3 = 5. We will do this for each team and seed each team the team with the highest points will be first.

Go Karting:

The karting event will be scored a lot like the skiing. The team score will be determined by the average of each of the team members’ best lap times. There will be a 30-minute warm up for the entire team, meaning each team member will have 10 minutes to feel and understand the track and kart. After the initial 30 minutes warm up, we will start the races. Each person will participate in a 20 minute race. We will take the best lap times from each person and average it. There will be two different groups racing, group 1 will be pro skiers that finished 11-20 in the pro slalom event, group 2 will go after group 1, and will include the top 10 pro slalom skiers from that day.

Skeet Shooting:

Will be scored a lot like skiing and go karts. Each team member will have 4 warm up shoots then will have 10 recorded shoots. If you hit all 10 shoots you score 10, we will average the team total and seed. Best score is a average of 10.

Overall Team Scoring:

The winning team will be based off the team’s average in all the events combined for example (Team A gets a score of “4” in waterskiing, a “7” in karting and a “2” in shooting their overall team score will be a 6.5) If there is a tie it will be broken by looking at the best single event score.
